Influencing Change

Reading and writing stories is like you are escaping from society. I am going to explore how popular fiction can spark reality. An example of this would be Forrest Gump.

Forrest Gump is a 1994 American-drama film based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The Story is about a simple yet backwards man who comes from Alabama and follows his journey through life. He comes across many high, and low moments. Forrest sees himself subsequently in the middle of every historical and popular even from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. He meets historical figures, influences popular culture.

This film creates such an influential change in society because of the plot itself. He was looked at like he was a “local idiot”. But who would have thought that he could make such a difference in the world? The entire story line has the whole world doubting Forrest, but he powers through and proves everybody wrong. Forrest’s actions land him a meeting with the president, an enrollment into the military, a medal of honor and that is just part of the list. He shows audiences that treating people equally and respectfully will always have a positive outcome and not listening to the negative influences in life is helpful.

Overall, Forrest Gump is a great example of fictional inspiration to society. Every being is unique in their own way and encounter different unique situations.

The Archetype

In almost every work of fiction there are heroic figures. There are many different characteristics that all of these figures have in common. In my essay, I’m going to discuss each of these characteristics.

A lot of heroes have very serious personalities. Sometimes they have these personalities because the hero has gone through a bad event in their life which has caused them to become this character, but also made them become very serious. This sort of characteristic is usually changed throughout the scenes of a story as the hero meets new people and usually develops some sort of interest. While they usually change their minds about people by the end of the story, this is a characteristic shared by many different heroes.

Strength is a very common trait with heroes. A hero is supposed to be a character that can take whatever comes at them. A lot of these heroes are very physically strong, Some mentally. Like Superman or Thor and they can take hits and fight their enemies. The heroes that are mentally strong are able to keep fighting no matter how hard it may be. If they fall down, they get back up again.

Heroes have to be very brave  otherwise they would not be able to do the things that a hero normally does. Being brave is doing tasks that normally people would never do.

This has been my essay on some of the traits and characteristics heroes have. All heroes have things in common.

The Trade Off

In my essay I am going to tell you why I would do a trade off with the character Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead. Even though swapping places with a character from The Walking Dead may not seem ideal, there are reasons why I would. The reasons why I would do this trade off are because Rick is a very intelligent and skillful person, he is good with people, and he is a great leader.

The first reason why I would do a trade off with Rick is because he is very intelligent. If Rick and the others are ever in a bad situation he always has an idea on what to do or where to go. One of the many skills he has is that knows how to use weapons such as knifes and guns. He can use them very well. Another skill he has is that he can build structures such as shelters. Being intelligent and skillful is a very useful trait to have. Especially when you are in a zombie apocalypse.

The second reason on why I would do this trade off is because he is very good with people. Rick is a problem solver. If two people are fighting or arguing, he knows how to calm them down. If he ever comes across another person that is looking for help, he always asks them important questions. When there is conflict, he also knows when to calm or when to be aggressive. In a situation where he is calm, this will make the other people calm down. When he is aggressive, it makes the person think twice before they do something stupid.

The third reason on why I would do this trade off is because he is a great leader. As previously mentioned, he is intelligent, has very useful skills, problem solver, and can calm people down. These are all good traits to have when being a leader. Being as good as a leader as Rick makes people look at you differently than others.

I have stated and explained all the reasons on why i would do this trade off. These reasons are because Rick is a very intelligent and skillful person, he is good with people, and he is a great leader.
